This is a poster design created for a weekly funk-inspired dance party in Providence, Rhode Island called "Silhouette Superfunker." I wanted to create an eye catching poster that excited people to move their bodies around!
To create the effect of vibrant motion, I took photographs of a person dancing and created vector shapes from the still frames of their movements. I then applied the multiply effect and played with the color palette to achieve this vibrant overlaid look. Most poster designs for this sort of event are cluttered with flashy dimensional type and more words than the average person cares to read. In an attempt to stand apart from the crowd, I created a design that was framed with white space, allowing the eyes passing a bar-front window to be drawn to the vibrant dancing silhouette and straight forward type treatment.
